ELLIOTT

Mr. John Elliott of Rocky Mountain House passed away on March 11, 1991 at the age of 81 years.

John was born in Paisley, Scotland on March 8, 1910. He joined the British Army for a short time, then came to Canada with his family in 1927. John farmed in the Dovercourt district and joined the Canadian Army Merchant Navy in WWII. In 1946, he married Kathleen and returned to Canada in 1947 and joined Forestry. They lived in various parts of Alberta.

John retired from Forestry after 19 years and moved to Rocky Mountain House where he owned and operated Rocky Greenhouse and Florists. He retired from the flower business in 1985 and closed the greenhouse in 1988. He also raised Saint Bernard and Samoyed dogs and raced for many years.

John was a life member of the Legion, a life member of the Masons, a life member of the Canadian Kennel Club and a life member of the Alberta Chapter of the Elliott Clan.

John is survived by Kathleen, his loving wife of 45 years; his son Boyd of Savona, B.C.; two daughters: Shiela of Calgary and Robina of Edmonton; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; his Uncle Archie in Scotland; many nieces and nephews; special chosen families: Janice and children, and Ted, Connie and children. He was predeceased by his mother and father, one son Archie, one sister and his first wife.

A service of remembrance for the late Mr. John Elliott was held from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rocky Mountain House, on Saturday, March 16, 1991 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Hoskin officiating. Cremation.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
